Hi

We’re thrilled to have you participating in FOSS Hack 2024! With just 10 days to go until showtime, we’re excited to share some crucial updates to help you prepare for a nice experience.

Participant Dashboard for FOSS Hack

The participant dashboard for FOSS Hack has received some nice updates:

  • Edit your mode for participation: You can now change your mode from in-person to remote and vice versa.
  • Leave a team to join a new one: A team owner can leave their current team to join another.
  • Trash projects and start anew: If you’d like to create a new project from scratch, you can now discard your existing project and start fresh.

Please note that you can edit preferences for participation mode until 18 July 2024, after which the Localhost organizers will start confirming or rejecting requests.

Partner Projects’ Updates

Partner projects provide a curated list of issues that can serve as potential problem statements if you’re unsure of which project or contribution to make.

If you’ve chosen a partner project to work on:

  • Finalise the issues you’ll be working on and try to get them assigned by 20 July 2024.
  • If the maintainer is unaware that you’re working on issues, your contribution might be missed or delayed in evaluation.
  • Use the upcoming week to familiarize yourself with the codebase and start working on your issues to be ready for the hack hours.

Upcoming feature: You will be able to link your issues and Pull Request links on the hackathon dashboard by 26 July.

Open code-walkthrough sessions:
The code-walkthrough sessions for partner projects are a great opportunity to understand more about the project and get your queries answered by the maintainers.
